Sumner County Education Association A TEA/NEA Affiliate

CAT | S-PACE

Where:     Hendersonville Library

When:       Thursday, January 21

Time:         4:30-5:30

Speaker:    TEA President Earl Wiman

Why:        To play a part in the up-coming election process…to have influence over your work environment.

As you are all aware, some members of the Sumner County Board of Education   have caused concern by voting in a manner not always inclusive of educator  views, suggestions or findings by committees. This August, 6 of the 11 seats are up for reelection.  They are:

Mike Fussell, 1st District , Don Long, 3rd District , Rob wheeler, 5th District , Ben Harris, 7th District 7, Will Duncan, 9th district, and David Brown, 11th district.

If teachers are to have a work friendly environment, professional treatment, and equitable pay as a priority, these goals MUST start with each member on our school board.

S-PACE Membership

With six Board of Education seats up for reelection, it is absolutely necessary that we as educators be involved. Additionally, all County Commission seats are up for reelection. This a time for us to realize that 99% of what we can or cannot do in a classroom, what materials/supplies we have or do not have, and what our salary is or is not is DIRECTLY related to the political decisions made in our county, state, and federal government.

If you have joined S-PACE, thank you. If you have not done so yet, please do so! Your man-power and resources are needed for the future of education in Sumner County.
